These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Metaheuristic (“we”, “us”, “our”) - a marketplace that routes code diffs to vetted human reviewers. By creating an account, submitting a diff, or accepting review work, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who can use the service
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. If you use Metaheuristic on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company.
2. Accounts
You are responsible for safeguarding your API keys and credentials, and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at security@metaheuristic.co if you suspect unauthorized use.
3. Submitting diffs (“Submitters”)
When you submit code for review you grant Metaheuristic and the assigned reviewer a limited, non-exclusive license to view, copy, run, and analyze the submitted code solely to perform the review. You retain ownership of your code. We do not use your code to train models.
You agree not to submit:
- Material you do not have the right to share
- Code containing live secrets, production credentials, or PII you would not freely disclose
- Malware, illegal content, or material designed to harm reviewers’ systems
4. Performing reviews (“Reviewers”)
Reviewers are independent contractors, not employees. By accepting a review you agree to:
- Treat all submitted code as confidential
- Deliver a verdict (
APPROVED,NEEDS_REVISION, orREJECTED) within the SLA window - Not retain, redistribute, or reuse submitted code beyond what is necessary for the review
Reviewers are paid per accepted verdict at rates published in the reviewer dashboard.
5. Service levels
We offer SLA tiers (Starter, Standard, Priority) with target verdict windows. Missing an SLA may entitle you to a credit, but does not constitute a guarantee. Verdict accuracy is reviewer judgment - we do not warrant that reviews are error-free.
6. Pricing and payment
Submitters are charged per diff at the price of the selected SLA tier. Charges are non-refundable once a verdict is delivered. Disputes must be raised within 14 days at billing@metaheuristic.co.
7. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract reviewer identities
- Use the service to generate training data without our written permission
- Bypass rate limits, SLA gating, or queue routing
- Resell access to the API without an agency agreement
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse reviewers, or pose a security risk. You may close your account at any time; outstanding charges survive termination.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant that reviewers will catch every defect, that SLAs will be met in every case, or that the service will be uninterrupted.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced via email or in-product at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
